“Momento 0.0” is inspired by the ephemeral moment in which life occurs and its transitory nature.
Besides, this work emphasizes the relationship between the inorganic and the organic nature of the origin of the matter.
“Moment 0.0” invites us to travel to a new universe through its origin, discovery, chaos, union, destruction and its hopeful ending.
Furthermore, “Momento 0.0” explores how nature and bodies are interwoven, crossed by connections and at the same time, bursting into pieces.
Deep and hurtful sounds interact, showing us the confrontation between life and death.
Edith Alonso’s electronic music album “Momento 0.0” absorbs the listener from the very first second with carefully chosen sounds, strong story-telling themes and a mesmerizing ambience. Every chapter on “Momento 0.0” has its own identity, breaths with constantly moving elements, and blends various influences, reminding of for example Richard Wahnfriend’s “Trance Appeal” and the abstract part of Jean Michel Jarre’s “Magnetic Fields part 1”, but also has certain resemblances with music from some other artists under Deserted Island Music’s artists Feralia Planitia and Basic Principles.

EDITH ALONSO
Edith Alonso is a composer, pianist, and sound artist born in Madrid. After she began composing electroacoustic music when she discovered the concrète music and met composers such as François Bayle and Pierre Henry, she started her Electroacoustic and instrumental composition studies in Paris. Edith gained PhD in arts, sciences and technologies at University Saint-Denis-Vincennes (Paris) and University Complutense (Madrid). She won the SACEM price at the end of her electroacoustic composition studies, and received grants of the French Ministry of Research and the Spanish Ministry of Foreign affaires.
As a composer Edith received several distinctions and prizes: winner of Madrid Abierto competition 2008, honorable mention in Pauline Oliveros Prize 2010, nominated in the Prix Europe competition 2009, and honorable mention in the Hablar en Arte competition 2009. She has been commissioned by RNE (Spanish National Radio) and CDMC (Center for contemporary music, Spain), and also represented Spain in the TIME (International Tribune of electroacoustic music of UNESCO).
Alonso’s compositions have been performed at numerous international festivals, including the International Computer Music Conferences of Belfast and Montreal, the XXIV Festival de Alicante de Música Contemporánea, SIMC (Paris), Synthèse (Bourges) and others in Portugal, Spain, Columbia, Argentina, Germany, Sweden, South Korea, Cuba, Costa Rica, and Mexico. She has also collaborated with other media, including film and dance, as well as sound installations.

The story behind this project is linked to some special meetings in the Yvelines region, just outside Paris, in the summer of 2023.
Two years after we started our electronica collaboration in 2020, which led to the “Live At BYSS” performance and its release, we played with the idea of recording a piano album. Things started to take shape when we got the opportunity to record a beautiful Steinberg (not to be confused with Steinway) grand piano from the early 20th century. The fact that the piano had not been tuned recently gave it even more character and charm.
We decided to also involve some synthesizers to partially process and modulate the live piano parts and to add extra contrast and atmosphere. Additionally, we used a violin bow and some percussion tools. In the end it became a balanced whole so that you are not just listening to a piano.
What you hear on this registration is completely based on improvisation and our state of mind during the sessions we recorded on August 5, 2024. For this reason we decided to have only the one-day recording sessions, as additional days would have resulted in completely different output.
For this album release, parts were selected and edited from the more than six hours of music we recorded. We aimed for an honest and organic impression of how things were performed, maintaining dynamics and keeping mistakes, mis-hits and even ambient sounds, resulting in this listening experience that we would like to share with you!
Remy Stroomer and Peter Dekker
Three parts from the extensive recorded material were selected, and Remy mixed these recordings. The legendary Michel Geiss took care of the audio mastering of the project. Parts of the recording sessions were filmed by David Smelik, who also participated on one part of the “Rendez-Vous” piece. Early March, 2025, Peter and Remy travelled to the Yvelines region again to shoot additional video recordings on location. The video edit combining both the session and environmental recordings has been edited by both David and Remy. Additionally, Audiochef’s Misja van Waterschoot made a 5.1 audio mix for the blu-ray video.
Because the album’s longest improvisation, “Rendez-Vous,” tells a story in itself, it was selected for a Blu-ray release. Supplemented with outtakes from other recorded segments, this resulted in a “Behind the Scenes” clip as bonus material on the Blu-ray.
“Yvelines” is available on CD and as digital download, containing a three pieces selection. As well as limited edition set with this CD and the Blu-ray, containing “Rendez-Vous” and “Behind the Scenes”.

REMY
Remy Stroomer (1979) produces his electronic music since 1999. So far, he released 13 studio albums, did various concerts in the Netherlands, Germany and the U.K., and collaborated with a large number of artists from the electronic music scene, including Space Art, Ron Boots, Wolfram Spyra, Gert Emmens, Francis Rimbert, Synth.nl, Moonbooter, Bas Broekhuis and My Breath My Music.
Remy is also involved in the improvisational act Mäläskä.
With his Deserted Island Music record label he releases his own music, as well as music from Mäläska, Däcker, Space Art, Feralia Planitia, Basic Principles, Martijn Comes and Edith Alonso.
DÄCKER
Peter Dekker (1973) owns more than 70 electronic music instruments, with which he composed and recorded an uncountable amount of music. It takes until 2020 before he releases “Pareidolia”. With this debut album, Peter wins the first prize in the category ‘Discovery of 2020’ at the German Schallwelle Awards, gains recognition for his music, receives worldwide airplay and reviews, and performs solo as well as with others (including Skoulaman, Mäläskä and Steve Baltes) in the Netherlands, Germany and the U.K.

EDITH ALONSO
Edith Alonso is een componiste, pianiste en geluidskunstenares, geboren in Madrid. Nadat ze de musique concrète ontdekte en componisten als François Bayle en Pierre Henry ontmoette, begon ze met het componeren van elektroakoestische muziek. Vervolgens studeerde ze elektroakoestische en instrumentale compositie in Parijs. Edith promoveerde in de kunst, wetenschappen en technologie aan de Universiteit Saint-Denis-Vincennes (Parijs) en de Complutense Universiteit (Madrid). Aan het einde van haar studie elektroakoestische compositie won ze de SACEM-prijs en ontving ze beurzen van het Franse Ministerie van Onderzoek en het Spaanse Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken.
Als componiste ontving Edith diverse onderscheidingen en prijzen: ze won de Madrid Abierto-competitie in 2008, ontving een eervolle vermelding bij de Pauline Oliveros-prijs in 2010, werd genomineerd voor de Prix Europe in 2009 en kreeg een eervolle vermelding bij de Hablar en Arte-competitie in 2009. Ze heeft compositieopdrachten ontvangen van RNE (de Spaanse nationale radio) en CDMC (Centrum voor hedendaagse muziek, Spanje), en heeft Spanje ook vertegenwoordigd bij TIME (International Tribune of electroacoustic music van UNESCO).

Het verhaal achter dit project is verbonden met een aantal bijzondere ontmoetingen in de regio Yvelines, net buiten Parijs, in de zomer van 2023.
Twee jaar nadat we in 2020 onze samenwerking in de elektronische muziek begonnen, wat leidde tot het optreden “Live At BYSS” en de release daarvan, speelden we met het idee om een pianoalbum op te nemen. Het begon vorm te krijgen toen we de kans kregen om een prachtige Steinberg (niet te verwarren met Steinway) vleugel uit het begin van de 20e eeuw op te nemen. Het feit dat de piano niet recent gestemd was, gaf hem nog meer karakter en charme.
We besloten ook synthesizers te gebruiken om de live pianopartijen gedeeltelijk te bewerken en te moduleren, en om extra contrast en sfeer toe te voegen. Daarnaast gebruikten we een vioolstok en percussie-gereedschap. Uiteindelijk werd het een evenwichtig geheel, waardoor je niet alleen naar een piano luistert.
Wat je op deze opname hoort, is volledig gebaseerd op improvisatie en onze gemoedstoestand tijdens de sessies die we op 5 augustus 2024 hebben opgenomen. Om die reden hebben we ervoor gekozen om slechts één dag op te nemen, omdat extra dagen tot een totaal ander resultaat zouden hebben geleid.
Voor deze albumrelease zijn fragmenten geselecteerd en bewerkt uit de ruim zes uur aan muziek die we hebben opgenomen. We streefden naar een eerlijke en organische weergave van hoe alles is uitgevoerd, met behoud van dynamiek en het laten horen van fouten, missers en zelfs omgevingsgeluiden. Het resultaat is deze luisterervaring die we graag met jullie willen delen!

Drie delen uit het vele opgenomen materiaal werden geselecteerd, en Remy mixte deze audio. De legendarische Michel Geiss verzorgde de audiomastering van het project. Delen van de opnamesessies werden gefilmd door David Smelik, die ook meewerkte aan een deel van het nummer “Rendez-Vous”. Begin maart 2025 reisden Peter en Remy opnieuw naar de regio Yvelines om extra video-opnames op locatie te maken. De video-edit, waarin zowel de sessie- als de omgevingsopnames zijn gecombineerd, is door David en Remy gemonteerd. Daarnaast verzorgde Misja van Waterschoot van Audiochef een 5.1-audiomix voor de blu-ray-video.
Omdat de langste improvisatie van het album, “Rendez-Vous”, op zichzelf al een verhaal vertelt, is er besloten om dit nummer te selecteren voor een blu-ray-uitgave. Aangevuld met outtakes van andere opgenomen delen, resulteerde dit in een “Behind the Scenes”-clip als bonusmateriaal op de blu-ray.
“Yvelines” is verkrijgbaar op cd en als digitale download, met een selectie van drie stukken. Daarnaast is er een gelimiteerde editie met deze cd en de blu-ray, met daarop “Rendez-Vous” en “Behind the Scenes”.

Met dit debuutalbum wint Peter de eerste prijs in de categorie ‘Ontdekking van 2020’ bij de Duitse Schallwelle Awards, krijgt hij erkenning voor zijn muziek, krijgt hij wereldwijde airplay en recensies, en treedt hij zowel solo als met anderen op (waaronder Skoulaman, Mäläskä en Steve Baltes) in Nederland, Duitsland en het Verenigd Koninkrijk.
