Schallwende Grillfest | | Â
I will be doing a solo performance at the Schallwende Grillfest on July 4th. My previous and only performance so far on this event was on 16-8-2008. At that time organized by Schallwelle initiator Sylvia Sommerfeld, and located at the Grugapark in Essen. Since a couple of years the location has been moved to an old barn.

65 Jaar popmuziek in en uit Velsen | |
Last month the book "65 jaar popmuziek in en uit Velsen" was presented.
It is a real honour to be part of this wonderful historic overview and reference work of the music scene from Velsen, which IJmuiden is also part of.
There are dedicated a whopping six pages to my music, including some exclusive personal contributions and photos!

Van Annie tot Zonneveld - 65 jaar popmuziek in en uit Velsen (1960-2025)
A special book (539 pages, full color, A4 size, and over 1.6 kg) full of stories, memories, and musical history from Velsen.
The book is printed in an edition of 300 softcovers and 25 hardcovers.
The hardcovers are intended for the sponsors of this project and will not be for sale.
Due to the limitation, it is most likely that the book will not become available in any stores and webshops. If you are interested in obtaining a book: they cost €25 each, and are only for sale at some local occasions. However, if you are interested, just drop me an e-mail, and I might see what I can do for you.

Däcker - Anthropomorphic Personification Â
 Dutch electronic musician Peter Dekker performs under the name Däcker. His album "Anthropomorphic Personification," released in 2023, is his second full-length release under this moniker. I received this album, along with other releases from Remy Stroomer's Deserted Island Music label, at the Schallwelle Awards ceremony in February 2026. The CD version (the album is also available as a download via Bandcamp) came in a four-page paperback sleeve.
The following information was compiled by the label:
Anthropomorphic: "Human-shaped" or "with human characteristics." Personification: Translating concepts (things) into a person. Anthropomorphic personification: Translating concepts into a human (shaped) personality with human characteristics.
The Dutchman Peter Dekker recalls having music constantly in his head since the age of four. He didn't compose his first pieces until he was nine. Peter initially took piano lessons and wrote piano pieces, but as soon as he received his first keyboard on his fifteenth birthday, he began making electronic music. Today, Peter owns more than 70 electronic musical instruments, with which he has composed and recorded countless pieces.
Peter could work on actual compositions for days, even weeks, but above all, he prefers to create music in the most direct and spontaneous way: simply sitting down and playing. He tries to reflect his wide-ranging musical tastes and interests in his compositions, especially styles not typically associated with electronic music, such as rock, jazz, and Latin. His main sources of inspiration include Vangelis, Nova/Peru, Jean-Michel Jarre, Neuronium, Ed Starink, and Jun Fukamachi. With his alter ego Däcker, Peter explores a musical style that also shows clear connections to a specific electronic music movement from Germany.
Listening to the music, it becomes clear that the previously described "electronic music movement from Germany" can only refer to the "Berlin School."
The album opens with the nine-and-a-half-minute "Thanatos." The electronic sounds initially chirp and shimmer, reminiscent of Tangerine Dream in the early 1970s. The piece develops very slowly. Then, almost like timpani strokes, they emerge, blending into the shimmering electronic sounds. This first track consists entirely of electronic soundscapes.
Next comes the 16-minute "Aergia." Dripping, pearly sounds open this long track. Soon, expansive soundscapes are added, gently drifting through the space. This sounds very harmonious and is a far cry from the opening piece. After about three minutes, a melodic line emerges. And just over two minutes later, a sequencer rhythm complements this beautiful track. The track gains momentum, and Peter Dekker adds catchy melodic lines and solos. Klaus Schulze seems to have been a major influence here.
Dekker then launches into the next track, the 15-minute "Hypnos," with echoing, gentle sounds. He's joined by Rik van der Lande on semi-acoustic guitar. Dekker also incorporates synthesizer-generated wind sounds into this atmosphere. The piece develops slowly, and it takes more than four minutes before melodic elements are introduced. The track has a certain arc of tension, which, in addition to the electronic music with slight nods to Vangelis and others, also features classical timpani. It's very well done.
The almost ten-minute "Chaos" begins with slightly unsettling sound collages. At times, it's just a lot of hissing and static. It takes a good five minutes before a sequencer rhythm emerges from this musical "chaos," bringing some order to the soundscape. This driving rhythm then continues until the very end. Melodies and harmonies are not discernible here.
"Chronos," the album's longest track at almost 21 minutes, is characterized by harmonies that again point somewhat towards the "Berlin School" sound. After about three minutes, a sequencer rhythm begins, which is then supplemented by another sequencer rhythm. Harmonies are repeatedly inserted into this, creating a hypnotic effect. From the middle onward, a pumping beat kicks in for a few minutes, giving the whole thing a special touch. This is fun and really gets going. Däcker then lets the piece fade out calmly.
The album concludes with the nearly five-minute track "Gaia," showcasing a highly melodic style. Echoing synthesizer sounds weave a beautiful melody, providing a dreamy and melodic ending to this diverse album.
On "Anthropomorphic Personification," Peter Dekker has interwoven various musical styles. At times, he evokes vivid moods, while at others, the pieces feature exquisite harmonies and melodies, paired with beautiful rhythmic sequences.
