Deserted Island Music news

August 2026

Hi there,

We have a rather filled newsletter.

July 5th, there was a final X-Rated at Concertzender radioshow, dedicated to Bob Rusche, who passed away on June 26th.

You can read reviews from last month's Schallwende Grillfest, as well as the "Momento 0.0" album by Edith Alonso.
Additionally, both myself as Edith were interviewed for respectively podcast and magazine.

Upcoming, within two weeks, we have the sold out final edition of the Electronic Circus Festival in Lemgo, Germany, where Deserted Island Music will also be present.

And we have added a couple more titles from the outstanding Databloem label to our webshop. Be sure to check these out if you are open to explore new and different electronic music, especially if you are not familiar yet with this label (established in 2002). We are offering their titles for a competetive price!

And last but not least, there has been rather some airplay, including some archived shows which you can listen back.
 Musical greetings,

Remy Stroomer

Schallwende Grillfest

Schallwende Grillfest 2026

I was invited by Schallwende to play at their Grillfest in Ahlen, Germany on July 4th. It was a pleasure to perform solo again.
The party kicked off slightly past 16:00 with an hour of Bridge To Imla (Michael BrĂĽckner, Hans-Dieter Schmidt and Volker Lankow), who really got the listener's attention; nice sounds and dynamic line-up. Enjoyed it!

Then, a break, where all attendees could get food and drinks.
Hereafter, around 18:20, it was my turn for the next hour. I adjusted by last year's Awakenings setlist, containing one piece from 2022's Grote Kerk project, and furthermore only new, yet unreleased compositions, on which I improvised.
Another break followed, and slightly before 20:00 we started an improvised session with all musicians. The final note was struck approximately 50 minutes later.

For the session I prepared some sequencer stuff, but it's always the question if these perpared basics will be used when fully improvising.
Besides, we had never played together before, so it's always exciting to see what might eventually happen.
According to the audience's response, they liked what we did. And in the end we were all happy, and experienced a wonderful afternoon / evening.

Schallwende Grillfest 2026 (2)

Thanks to Klaus Sommerfeld for the invitation, and Bernd and Steffi Glanemann for their hospitality.

Schallwende Grillfest review

EMpulsiv

As you could have read above, Bridge to Imla (Michael BrĂĽckner, Hans-Dieter Schmidt and Volker Lankow) and myself performed at the schallwende e.V. Grillfest in Ahlen, Germany, earlier this month.

Alfred Arnold wrote a detailed report (in German language) about the event, for Empulsiv - Das Infoportal fĂĽr elektronische Musik:

Final episode of Concertzender X-Rated

Concertzender

Sunday, July 5th, I was invited at the Concertzender, to be part of the very last edition of X-Rated, to commemorate Bob Rusche, who passed away unexpectedly a week before.
It would become an emotional broadcast, curated by Stefan Koopmanschap, who did a wonderful job getting everything together, and presenting the show.

There were a couple of very close friends of Bob present in the studio, and even Bob's girlfriend Anita had the courage to be with us the whole evening.
It was a wonderful show, and it was a privilege to be here to dedicate some final words and music to the wonderful person who Bob was.

Then, I also got the opportunity to read all contribution from listeners, artists and close friends, who couldn't be with us at the time of the radio show.
Quite a responsibility, but an absolute honour to trust me with this.

When the three hours show was ended at midnight, emotions reached its top, and I don't think anyone in the studio could hold their tears.
This ending marks the end of X-Rated. Simply because Bob Rusche wás X-Rated, who is unreplacable in this case.

X-Ray was the (pre-recorded) hour until midnight, after the regular show. Bob had already prepared two shows, which have been broadcast the two Sunday evenings that followed.

This marks the very end of X-Rated and X-Ray.

In the meanwhile the Sunday evening programming has been rescheduled with some wonderful existing shows, which now have some expanded airtime.
Find all details about the new Sunday evening on the Concertzender website:

Journeys to the Infinite

Journeys to the Infinite

Recently I had an animated conversation with Marius-Christian Burcea about my music, to be featured in his "Journeys to the Infinite" podcast.
Marius has been following my musical career since the beginning, and although we have been aware of each other's existence, we strangely never have been in touch before, until Marius approached me. That's sometimes how things go.
It was a real pleasure to finally got to speak eachother. As well as it is an honour to be featured in his wonderful show.
This latest edition of "Journeys to the Infinite" is part of a constantly growing list of in-depth interviews with many established artists from the electronic music scene.

Marius made a wonderful edit of the extensive talk to fit his podcast, and made a selection of some of his favourite REMY music.
The show has been archived and is ready to listen on the "Journeys to the Infinite website":

Recent releases

REMY & Däcker - Yvelines (DIM-025)
CD | CD+BDR | digital download
This second collaboration of REMY & Däcker can be categorized as avant-garde, and is a rather different experience than the "Live at BYSS" debut album. Remy and Peter used a grand piano (not just played in a conventional way) as main instrument, complemented with electronics for sound processing and adding ambient atmosphere.

Edith Alonso - Momento 0.0 (DIM-024)
CD | digital download
Inspired by the ephemeral moment in which life occurs and its transitory nature. “Momento 0.0” explores how nature and bodies are interwoven, crossed by connections and at the same time, bursting into pieces. Deep and hurtful sounds interact, showing us the confrontation between life and death.

Basic Principles - Colours (DIM-014)
2-CD | digital download
Although being active in music and as painter for many years, Wladimir Duijndam's electronic music is going to be available in physical form for the first time. The album consists of an intense double disc listening experience. While the first disc contains minimal, atmospheric and ambient-like pieces, the second carrier will definitely blow away the Berlin School enthusiasts and analog sequencer fetishists.

Feralia Planitia - Feralia Planitia 150

Feralia Planitia - Feralia Planitia (DIM-013)
CD EP | digital download
The five entrancing tracks on the eponymous debut EP by Feralia Planitia evoke reminiscences with the music of Doris Norton, Andrea Parker, Leftfield, Cabaret Voltaire and Kraftwerk. The cover artwork by Patrick Fitou refers to cinematic and sci-fi works by directors like Stanley Kubrick, Andrei Tarkovsky and David Cronenberg.
