Hi there,
People passing constantly, including famous ones. Most of the times I don't spend a lot of attention to this here or on my social media. From time to time there are some exceptions from musicians who have been very influential for my own life and career, or whom I have been personally connected with. William Orbit was one in the first category. He died on July 23. His version of Barber's "Adagio For Strings" was ground-breaking at the time. When it came out that the electronic, but still classical sounding, album it appears on was something completely different than the commercial single (remixed by Ferry Corsten) it moved the musical landscape. At least it did in my experience. And what about William's production of Madonna's brilliant (and most likely her best) album "Ray of Light". It was in the late 90s when there already was so much excitement and innovation in music. Indeed Orbit was and did so much more, solo as well as collaborations with Blur, Beth Orton, Finley Quaye, P!nk and All Saints, to name a few. He definitely was one of those artists who received a lot of recognition by doing his own thing.
Also, Robert Fox passed away on August 26. Together with David Wright he founded Code Indigo back in 1994. David wrote on his social media: "And while Code Indigo will never be ‘Code Indigo’ without Robert Fox, there is a final Code Indigo album, ‘Pale Blue Dot’ scheduled for release in 2027 and it DOES feature Robert Fox, playing his beloved D50."

"Yvelines" is recent collaboration project by Peter Dekker (Däcker) and me (REMY). Those who have already heard the music and/or watched the blu-ray video, are likely to confirm that it's a project which is most likely not an instant ear-candy for most listeners. It rather is a project that was created in the moment and in a specific mind-state. Fast-listening and then judging this project is 100% not an option!
Because we think the video (which is available as limited edition blu-ray) we made, as well as the story behind this project, are significant to understand, judge, and fully enjoy this project, we decided to share a lower resolution (720p, 2.0 audio, instead of 1080p, 2.0 and 5.1 audio as featured on the blu-ray) version with the world. Every now and then, a recording lands at Sonic Immersion HQ that makes me hit play a few more times than the usual couple before I even begin writing the review. Remy Stroomer's "Planet of the Arps 2" is one of those releases. It's also an excellent candidate for headphone listening.
Created entirely by Dutch composer Remy Stroomer, "Planet of the Arps 2" is a tribute to astronomer Halton Arp and his Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies, as well as to ARP synthesizers and the musical phenomenon of the arpeggio. Across its 54-minute runtime, divided into five tracks but unfolding as one uninterrupted journey, the album draws the listener into a captivating, immersive off-world reality. Remy creates cinematic, richly textured soundscapes with remarkable depth and impact.
From the very beginning, the album establishes a futuristic, almost otherworldly atmosphere. The music develops gradually and patiently, embracing a minimalist approach while slowly introducing deep beats, spacious pads, and intriguing sequences. Rather than rushing toward obvious climaxes, Stroomer allows the sounds to evolve organically, creating a strong sense of movement and exploration.
For me, "Fight for Telescope Time" and "Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies" are particular highlights. Their evocative yet hypnotically static combination of beats, sequences, and rhythms is highly effective, resulting in an exceptional and driving blend that feels like Spyra meets Kraftwerk meets Pete Namlook meets Remy Stroomer.
A beautifully crafted and deeply immersive electronic journey. Well done, Mr. Stroomer!

Journeys to the Infinite | |
Recently I had an animated conversation with Marius-Christian Burcea about my music, to be featured in his "Journeys to the Infinite" podcast.
Marius has been following my musical career since the beginning, and although we have been aware of each other's existence, we strangely never have been in touch before, until Marius approached me. That's sometimes how things go.
It was a real pleasure to finally got to speak eachother. As well as it is an honour to be featured in his wonderful show.
This latest edition of "Journeys to the Infinite" is part of a constantly growing list of in-depth interviews with many established artists from the electronic music scene.
Marius made a wonderful edit of the extensive talk to fit his podcast, and made a selection of some of his favourite REMY music.
